FTDNA CLOSE MATCHES

Purpose

There are many ways of comparing the various DNA results available to us. In previous pages I have not included those USA families who have not traced their ancestry beyond the USA. I have noted that a considerable number of SMGF results of families in the USA were shown to have 70% or better results compared with mine. Rather than plot any of those at this time, I am using this page to show USA families that FTDNA have reported to have very close matches with my results and who would have the same distant roots as mine.

The Figures.

The following table compares my results from the combined 25-marker FTDNA analysis and the 36-marker SMGF analysis of my DNA samples  to those of close matches reported by FTDNA. If all persons participated in the Sorenson analysis covering more markers, a more accurate picture of the possible relationships would be obtained. The Wilkinson results are for the FTDNA 37-marker analysis.

NOTE:  I have used the Sorenson calibration in this table. The results listed under the markers tagged with ** are those that differ from the FTDNA calibration. To convert FTDNA scores to Sorenson scores: DYS394/19 add 1; DYS448 add 3:  Y-GATA-H4 add 1.

I have labelled a row 'Common' to show markers that predominate. These can be considered as part of the DNA for a founder of a branch in the world family tree. In the diagram below I have started off with the Common branch and then attempted to show how the sub-branches may have developed from that over time, as indicated by the mutations in the table.
